From the Belper mills, cross river and head up Ashbourne Road towards Blackbrook, crossing one road. Go past houses to track on left side with ford and footbridge. Take track up past farms on left and right and carry straight on up the track through two sometimes stiff to open farm gates.

Just before house at top of hill, go through kissing gate on left side and through field to gate by telegraph pole. Proceed carefully down steep and sometimes slippery slope to footbridge over stream, then carefully up hill on other side to stone stile over wall on right. Go straight along left side of field and over two stiles to Farnah Green.

Turn right and then left before field to bottom of Chevin with bench and great views of Belper. Go through squeeze stile and head downhill to squeeze stile and road. Turn left then right just before first house and through gate. Head left downhill through two squeeze stiles to riverside walk. Turn left and follow path back to start point.
