Recent studies have shown that fresh air and the peace and quiet of stunning countryside can be a vital tonic for many people.

Getting into nature and the countryside is a great way to escape from technology and the pace of daily life. The benefits of exercise are far-reaching – from protecting against cancers, heart disease and long-term health conditions, to building strong bones and boosting the immune system.

Perhaps best known as walking country, the Peak District National Park offers a spectacular variety of scenery and routes to be explored – from steep sided limestone dales to the dramatic high moorlands. There is something for everyone in the national Park, whether you want a challenging hike or a short stroll.  To help plan your visit Planning Your Visit: Peak District National Park.

There really is something for everyone and our Miles without Stiles routes are well-surfaced easy access routes without stiles, steps, or steep gradients. Miles without Stiles: Peak District National Park.  They provide access to amazing views, moorland expanses, intimate dales, dramatic geology, distinctive habitats, tranquil and undeveloped areas, and history. There are four distinct recreational trails Trails: Peak District National Park, all of which were former railway lines, acquired by the Peak District National Park Authority in the late 1970s, 1980s and in the case of the Thornhill Trail, early 1990s. We saw the potential of these disused railway lines, to provide excellent recreational routes through beautiful countryside, and for these to be suitable for all. We want everyone to be able to get out in and be inspired by an Accessible Peak, for more details visit Access for all: Peak District National Park.
