Trans Pennine Trail – Chesterfield area
With easy gradients and surfaced paths the Trans Pennine Trail is a multi-user trail that is great all year round for walkers, cyclists and wheelchair users. Much of the trail can also be used by horse riders.
You can walk, cycle or horse ride the 6 miles from Killamarsh to Staveley. The walking and cycling route then follows a scenic 5 miles of the Chesterfield Canal towpath through to Chesterfield. The 6 mile bridleway loop goes from Staveley through West Wood to Chesterfield. All routes are well signed.
The Trans Pennine Trail North Eastern Derbyshire leaflet is attached to this page. This leaflet shows the route of the Trans Pennine Trail from its southern terminus in the historic market town of Chesterfield to Rother Valley Country Park. Between Chesterfield and Staveley, the route is divided. There is an easy access path along the Cuckoo Way (Chesterfield Canal towpath) and a bridleway link further south through Brimington Common. All visitors follow the same route between Staveley and Rother Valley Country Park
