Holme Hall Explorer Spring Activity 2025
Spring 2025 saw Clare Gage deliver workshops with 6 partner organisations in the Holme Hall neighbourhood. The workshops created artworks made by the community. On the Arts Trail day, Saturday 22nd March, participants began by visiting a venue to collect a worksheet and map showing a guided route around Holme Hall. Each venue displayed one of the 6 artworks and offered free activities and treats for the visitors. A sticker was given at each stop which together completed an artwork on the worksheet.
We loved last years, but this year the extra community collaboration is great. I’ve visited places that I haven’t been to before and will now visit again.
It’s been good to get out into the community and explore the area.

Lovely to come across these decorations in the Holme Hall community garden on Wardgate Way.

Holme Hall Explorer Summer of Activities- Update 30th September 2024
As the Summer of activities at Holme Hall comes to an end, we celebrated it by holding an exhibition event to showcase all the amazing people we met and the activities we did together. We saw some familiar faces from the Holme Hall community who had joined us over the summer and it was also great to introduce some new people to the project.
The exhibition celebrated discovering new and creative ways to enjoy walking in our local area. During the summer we used creative activities as prompts to experience walking differently. Whether focusing on the textures of the plants and flowers during the pottery walk, or opening our eyes to the colour combinations around us for the painting session; on each activity day we tuned into our surroundings in different ways. The exhibition showcased the work created over the summer and celebrated our time being Holme Hall Explorers!
I just hope there is more of this activity and more opportunities to share together in these kind of activities.
Great family activity which all the family could get involved in. From our youngest to our oldest age range 4-10.
Looking forward to more of this activity in the future. Good community spirit building new connections and friendships.
Here’s a round up of the Holme Hall Explorer Summer of activities.

Holme Hall Explorer Report
Holme Hall Explorer Art Trail Day at Holme Hall Primary School- 18th May 2024
On the 18th of May Holme Hall Primary School opened their doors for the Holme Hall Explorer Art Trail Day.
The art trail showcased clay models created earlier in the year by the children.
There was a great turnout with pupils turning up with their parents and extended families, and armed with instructions, a pencil, and a trusty map for directions, they set off to find the posters.
Proudly displaying pictures of their models, each poster was captioned with an action, from a simply question like ‘Do you like going for a walk?’ To ‘Make people laugh! – tell a joke, pull a funny face or do a silly dance’.
The pupils and adults had a great time. Once the trail was completed it was time to collect a prize! Then it was smiles all round, as goodie bags were opened and ice cream eaten.
Thanks to Holme Hall Primary school and their Head Teacher Jackie Littlechilds, The friends of Holme Hall, Clare Gage and the Chesterfield ANP members (Cllr Gavin Baldauf-Good, Juliet Grace, Gina Taylor, Cllr Judy Staton and Jenny).
