A Walking Update from Bolsover (August)

Nothing Works Like Walking Programme

Is a series of lunchtime circular walks, around 2 miles long and lasting about 45 minutes. Walks began in early June and are staged alternately from the councils’ facilities at the Arc and at the Riverside Depot.

Team Challenge Walk for 2025

Teams of four employees were challenged to walk 15 miles over 5 weeks along a virtual 60 mile route around the district taking in the councils current and former office sites and attractions such as Creswell Crags, Whitwell Woods, Pebley Pond, Carr Vale Nature Reserve, Snipe Bog, Hardwick Park, Pleasley Vale, The Old Hag and the Shire Oak.

Ten Teams (40 walkers) surpassed the 600-mile target and walked an incredible 1,157.21 miles over the 5 weeks.

Individual Challenge Walk for 2025

The challenge began on August 4th, the aim being to complete the 60-mile virtual route in ten weeks.

20 walkers have signed up for the challenge.

Walk Leader Training

4 Staff from Bolsover Active Schools Network completed walk leader training during May half term the purpose is to add to the activities they offer schools.

Emergency Aid Training

12 participants from various walking groups took part in a Emergency Aid workshop in July this was geared to deal with what they may encounter whilst out with their groups.
