To help mark the Great British Spring Clean (March 15 to 31), we joined Transition Chesterfield for their monthly LitterSorters litter pick.
Litter picking is a great way to make a positive difference to the environment as well as walking with a purpose.
Insight from the Walk Derbyshire Consortiums also tells us that one of the barriers to people walking in their local area is litter, and that people are more likely to walk if they feel safe, and they feel safer in areas that are cleaner.
Watch our video below to see how the LitterSorters group – which is celebrating its first anniversary – is making Chesterfield a cleaner and a greener place to walk, cycle and wheel. You can also hear how those taking part are seeing positive benefits to their own physical and mental health.
