Chesterfield Football Club Community Trust.

Chesterfield Football Club Community Trust staff have undertaken walk leader training with the support of Chesterfield Borough Council and Walk Derbyshire, so that they can build walking into their health and wellbeing provision. The Trust runs a very successful cancer support program for anyone affected by cancer. Alongside welcoming and friendly support groups, the Trust also hosts a walking group which offers a gentle, short walk suitable for anyone who may be either undergoing treatment or who has had treatment but is also a chance for friends and family to meet,  chat and support each other while walking.

Another innovative project at the Trust using walking to support its goals is the Young People’s Social Prescribing project. Young people are referred to the youth link workers for additional support and the youth team have been to trained take the young people out walking locally and engage with them in a less formal environment, while encouraging them to be active to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing.

Other initiatives at the Trust planning to feature walking include the senior citizens’ social group and the service veterans’ group.
